Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 4: Scrapbook Wall Decor
I wanted to design an album that could be used as a standing photo frame or as a wall hanging. The simple easel let me accomplish both objectives. I made the book with the spine of the book running horizontally across the top of the book. The ribbon which acts as the hanger can be neatly tucked inside itself when the book is used as a frame.
This is also a project that requires very little in the way of tools or equipment. Usually I would bind my books with the Unibind Photobook Creator, but since these pages telescope out of the book, my "binding" was basically glue and ribbon.
I am still working to learn how to combine multiple patterns, with stripes and solids...I have never been afraid of color, but for some reason, pattern on stripe on dots can send me into a creative panic attack. Recently I met Allison Arnell Davis whose help and guidence have given me some confidence in my journey. She also writes these really cool books, Sketches for Scrapbooking and Cardmaking, that give very clear instruction and visuals that the guess work out of using all kinds of patterns, stripes and dots together. She's a goddess for that.
Winter Joy paper and dimensional cardstock papers from BoBunny were fun and easy to use and gave me lots of options for combining pattern and pattern. Winter Joy is very cool...I love the fashion forward color palette of lime, lavender, cerulean, and espresso with silver accents.
Materials I used:
656835 Sizzix® ScoreBoards™ Pro Die - Frame & Frame Back w/Stand by Eileen Hull
1 Unibind 8x8 White Photobook
BOBUNNY Papers Winter Joy Peace
BOBUNNY ICANDY Dimensional Stickers Winter Joy Peace
Core'dinations Core Essentials
Amaco Rub n Buff Silver Leaf
1/2" Offray Metallic Ribbon
Hot Glue
Aleene's Original Tacky Glue
Aleene's Original Tacky Glue
I connected all the photo pages I made with silver wire edged ribbon so they can telecope out when you want to use the book as a wall hanging.
This was a really fun die to use, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the real deal...I'll be putting it on my "must have" list. I am inspired to create more telescoping photobooks and frames. I love creating things that can have multiple uses...and a book that is also a frame gives me various ways to display photos in the same project.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody. I am posting very late today as I have been tending to the turkey, stuffing and pecan pies. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the feast.
Thank you again for stopping by this week. I appreciate your feedback, as a guy crafter, I can always use constructive comments.
